Tanzania Food and Drug Authority reached level 3 of WHO Benchmarking Programme

To strengthen their regulatory functions, Tanzania Food and Drug Authority (TFDA) and the Zanzibar Food and Drug Agency (ZFDA) benchmarking was done in May by a team of Technical officers from WHO HQ and Country Offices and experts from some countries in Africa and Europe as The World Health Organization (WHO) plays a important role in supporting countries in strengthening their necessary systems and promoting fair access to quality, safe, efficacious, and affordable medical products and health products.

Front Line Health workers in Uganda to get vaccination against Ebola disease

The Ministry of Health has announced that Uganda will be conducting vaccination against the Ebola disease for the front line workers.
As the widespread occurrence of disease continues to claim more lives in neighbouring DRC.
Minister of Health said at a news conference at Uganda media centre that, "The Ministry of Health would like to inform the public and the entire world that it will conduct compassionate use of the Ebola vaccine (rVSV) for health care and front line workers and ring vaccination in Uganda".

“Dar to be a Medical Tourism Hub in EA”, This is envisioned to be a centre of excellence in the region

It has been announced that Dar at Tanzania is about to become a Medical tourism Hub; The hub of high-tech cardiovascular treatment which will include a special wing for children in East Africa.
This will happen through the extension of the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) at Mloganzila.
Tanzania Launches Mobile Healthcare Solution - Jamii

Tanzanian businesswoman Lilian Makoi has introduced an affordable mobile healthcare solution christened Jamii Africa in Tanzania. Although she has co-founded a number of startups, Jamii Africa happens to be her biggest and most positive business venture.
According to Lilian Makoi, she started Jamii Africa after losing someone in her family from a treatable medical emergency. The main reason for the loss, she said was their inability to pay for medical services. And this according to her was a wake-up call.
