Scholarship helps Coastal medical student visit Africa
A TRIP to Ghana last year has driven Ciara Peddell to help those less fortunate.
Working at a small rural hospital in the town of Asesewa, the Burnie-placed medical student watched helplessly as locals suffered due to a lack of amenities and treatment.
"We complain about our health care system here all the time," Miss Peddell said.
"You go there and young children are dying in front of you from simple illnesses.
EffRx Pharma signs distribution agreements for Binosto in Russia, Africa
Switzerland-based EffRx Pharmaceuticals has signed two new distribution agreements that will bring its osteoporosis treatment, Binosto, to markets in Russia, CIS countries and Africa.
The company has partnered with Andrus for the distribution of Binosto in Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Africa’s economic boom
Africa remains a sweet investment destination due to its resilience to internal and external shocks that have hampered economic growth globally.
This was according to the latest African Economic Outlook report, produced by the African Development Bank, the OECD and the United Nations Development Programme, released yesterday.
Africa’s economy is expected to grow to 4,8% this year and further accelerate to around 6% in 2015.
