Kenyan hotel group sets its sights on domestic tourists

Kenyan hospitality group Sandalwood Hotels and Resorts is focusing on this growing market.
“The Kenyan middle class is pushing this market. They love holidays. They have time to play golf, go for spa weekends and spend time with family. The CEOs use conferencing time outside the city as a small getaway and extend their trip for a day or two to enjoy themselves,” says Leon Ndubai, the hotel group’s chairman.
Seeking investors for hotel and amusement park
Hexagon Network Ltd., which owns two hotels and an entertainment centre in Nigeria, plans to build a new hotel and an amusement park, at the cost of US$7.2-million and US$13.5-million respectively.
The company, which hopes to start work on the projects in the third quarter of 2013, welcomes negotiations with potential investors on the return on investment. A share of the profits with no restriction on repartition is included. The options of a management contract or exiting the partnership after five years are given. Individual investors, companies and financial lenders will be considered for this investment.
