Oromia to have a new agricultural processing industrial park:

Leaders of the Three Horn of Africa nations which included Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, and Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh inaugurated a new industrial park dominated by agricultural processing firms in the Oromia region in southwest Ethiopia.
The industrial park, spanning 51 hectares in the town of Jimma in the Oromia regional state, represents an investment of $61 million.

The measures that have been put in place are expected to be officially announced at the 2018 edition of the National Farmers’ Day Celebration scheduled to take place on December 7 in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration in 2017 first introduced the ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ programme, targeting 250,000 farmers.

Increase by 13% in Tea export from East Africa to the rest of the world

Tea export volumes from East Africa to the rest of the world have risen by 1.4 million kilograms, representing a 13% increase from the comparable previous year, data from the East African Tea Export Auction reveals.
A latest auction report has shown that a total of 10.4 million kilogramme bags of tea were exported, more than the 9 million kilogramme bags exported around the same time the previous year.
