Kenya: Lusaka to Construct Classroom in Bumula

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka wants all elected leaders from the county to work towards infrastructural development. He said county leaders should unite despite their political affiliations.
"There are many denominations of the Christian faith but they all believe in one God... MPs, MCAs, the senator and I were elected to our respective positions on different political party tickets but we must serve the people who elected us," Lusaka said. "We must stop wrangling... We have to play our roles right or risk having no scorecard in 2017." Lusaka spoke at Kitingia Primary School in Kimaeti, Bumula, on Wednesday.
He pledged to fund the construction of a classroom in the school. Lusaka acceded to the request by parents for a classroom during a visit to the school - the second in seven months - where he participated in the removal of jiggers from pupils. The camp was organised by the county government and the Kenya Red Cross Society, Bungoma branch. The governor donated 110 desks last June when he made his first visit to the school, where he found some pupils learning under trees.
Lusaka agreed to Kimaeti MCA Chrisanthus Wechuli's request to ensure the ward is at the same pace of development as others in the county. It was also resolved at the meeting that should residents agree, a bridge will be constructed to connect Tulukuyi and Kitingia with funding from the Ward Development Fund.
Each of the 45 wards in Bungoma is to be allocated Sh20 million development funding, following approval by the county assembly. Wechuli urged Water executive Teresa Nakhungu to compel the contractor who executed the Syombe Water Supply project to drill the borehole again as it has dried up. The borehole supplies water to Kibabii Diploma Training College and its environs.
