Kinross is going ahead with expansion of its Tasiast gold mine in Mauritania
Kinross Gold announced Wednesday it has decided to proceed with the first stage of an expansion of its troubled Tasiast gold mine in Mauritania, which will dramatically increase production and slash costs at project.
The Canadian miner will spend about US$300 million to boost the mills capacity from the current 8,000 tonnes of ore per day to 12,000.
