RWANDA GETS A SOLAR POWER BOOST

Gigawatt Global, a renewable energy company, has launched an 8.5 MW solar-power utility in Rwanda.
The 23.7 million dollar project is the first utility-scale solar project to be completed under the US-Africa Clean Energy Finance (ACEF) program.
It is also one of the largest solar facilities on the continent.
“The project expands electricity generation capacity by more than 6 per cent in a country where more than 80 per cent of the people live without access to electricity, and is providing enough grid-connected power to supply 15,000 homes,” said John Kerry, US Secretary of State.
