Endeavor Energy and Joule Africa partner to develop Bumbuna Phase II Power Project
Endeavor Energy, a privately owned independent power development and generation company, has announced that it has entered into a joint development agreement (JDA) with international power developer Joule Africa.
As part of the agreement the two companies will work together to develop and construct the US$700 million Bumbuna Phase II Power Project, a hydroelectric power (HEP) project in Sierra Leone projected to add an additional 202 megawatts to the existing 50 megawatts at Bumbuna Phase I.

"Those who invest in South Africa never go wrong, they double their investments. I give people the example of the Tatas," a minister from the country says.
Little wonder then that South Africa is the focus country for the second successive year at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2013.
"Tatas are everywhere in South Africa. They're doing so well, opening new outlets and growing their footprint," South African Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Thabethe, who is here for the IITF, told IANS in an interview.
"The Indian companies doing business in South Africa testify how easy it is to set up and then do business. We provide a variety of incentives to companies," Thabethe added.
3 Nigerian Companies Win Off-Grid Energy Challenge
Three Nigerian companies have emerged winners in the GE/USADF Off Grid Energy Challenge. The winners are Trans Africa Gas and Electric PLC, GVE Projects Limitedand Afe Babalola University. They will receive 100 thousand dollars (about N16m) each for their innovative solutions to Off-Grid Energy in respective communities. The winners were announced at a grand event held in Lagos.

The “second liberation” of Africa would be the use of solar energy to generate electricity to power our homes and industries. Leaders and people of Africa ought to pull themselves out from poverty by utilising the vast amount of solar energy that hits the continent’s surface each year. The sun should be the future energy powerhouse if the continent is to attain a better and meaningful development that will benefit the people as well as the environment. The beauty of it all could be the electrification of our towns and villages with energy from the Sun and the replacement of tro-tro buses with solar driven electric trains.
