Ghana’s Early Power Deal boosts energy mix
Ghana’s energy mix is expected to increase by 400MW of power following Early Power Deal that was passed by parliament in August 2016. The project is expected to come on stream in the next six month.
The country is currently experiencing an excruciating power crisis that has crippled businesses. But, the passage of the Early Power deal comes as a relief to citizens who are yearning for an improvement in their power supply.
South Africa commissions Noupoort wind farm
South Africa has officially commissioned the Noupoort wind farm the latest energy project to be launched by the country.
The 80MW facility is situated in the Umsobomvu Municipal Area which is located 10km east of Noupoort in the Northern Cape. Noupoort Wind Farm spans 7,500 hectares and comprises thirty five 99m-high wind turbines.

First ever Locally manufactured Solar Kiosk has been launched in Ghana to boost the socio-economic activities of people who lack access to power in the country.
The solar kiosk has been spearheaded by NGO SolarKiosk Ghana Limited in partnership with Energy Commission and JCS Investment Limited.

South Africa mulls constructing 10 nuclear power plants
South Africa plans to construct 10 nuclear power plants with nearly 10GW of nuclear generating capacity. The project is expected to cost US$69.5bn.
South Africa has frequently been presented with offers to build light-water reactors, which are almost exclusively in use around the world today.
