South Africa is next stop for train builder
A Chinese locomotive manufacturer plans to set up a factory in South Africa after landing a series of major train building deals.
She Yongjun, the commercial manager of CSR E-Loco Supply (Pty) Ltd, said the factory should be in place this year or next, and will target state-owned transport companies.
Established in 2012, CSR E-Loco Supply is the South African subsidiary of CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co Ltd, part of the giant China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corp Ltd, which is considered the world's largest manufacturer of electric locomotives.

Cipla to acquire majority stake in UAE-based pharma manufacturer for $21M
Mumbai-based drugmaker Cipla Ltd is acquiring 51 per cent stake in a UAE-based pharmaceutical company which has manufacturing and distribution business in Yemen for $21 million.
“Given the recent preference to local manufacturing, this secures the company’s presence in a fast growing market,” the company said in a stock exchange announcement.
At present Cipla has over 200 products in Yemen market. The company will pay $21 million for this transaction with additional considerations which would be paid over three years on achievement of milestones.
Coke and Partners to Give 10 African Countries $21 Million of Medical Aid
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has joined Project Last Mile’s partners to include Mozambique and nine other African countries in their efforts to supply medicines and medical supplies.
USAID joins the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Coca-Cola Co. and its foundations in the public-private partnership that has promised an investment of more than $21 million over the next five years.
Project Last Mile currently is operating in Tanzania and Ghana.
