RWANDA GETS A SOLAR POWER BOOST

Gigawatt Global, a renewable energy company, has launched an 8.5 MW solar-power utility in Rwanda.
The 23.7 million dollar project is the first utility-scale solar project to be completed under the US-Africa Clean Energy Finance (ACEF) program.

MTN South Africa has unveiled the continent’s first concentrating solar cooling system to power the firm’s data centres.

Gigawatt Global to invest US$2b in generating 1000Mw of solar power for Africa

Gigawatt global is set to spend about US$2billion in developing and pumping 1000Mw of solar power in Africa by 2020. Dutch company Gigawatt has said the 1000MW power project will have its roots in East Africa where the largest photovoltaic field will be built in Rwanda.
